Humayun Tomb


Humayun full form is Mirza Nasir ud-din baig Muhammad khan humayun. Humayun was the second emperor of the mughal Empire. Humayun's born March seventeen, was born on 1508 and died on 26 january 1556 .His widow Hamida Banu Begum, Begum also known as Haji. Began construction of his tomb in 1569, fourteen years after his death,because  proper Mughal style, which was inspired by Persian architecture is the first isolated example.
 The tomb was built at a cost of fifteen million.Mirak Mirza Ghiyath, a Persian architect for the tomb was employed by Haji Begum.Tomb proper, is the center of a square garden, the causeways (Charbagh) parterres divided into four main stands at the center of which ran in the shallow water channels. The high rubble built enclosure in the west and south through two lofty double storied gateway is entered. A Baradari (pavilion), the center of the eastern wall in the center of the north wall and a hammam (bath room) occupies.
Humayun was Babur's son Humayun and Akbar's father. Humayun succeeded his father in 1531 in the Indian subcontinent, as ruler of the Mughal territories

Either get off at Jor Bagh Station on the Yellow Line and exit from Gate no 2 and take an auto through Lodi Road OR get off on the Khan Market Stn or JLN Stadium Stn on the Violet Line and take an Auto or walk to Humayun's Tomb.
